Tristan Seume makes a welcome return to La Fontenelle for his annual acoustic guitar workshop. The course lasts four days, and will focus on topics including:

  • Fingerstyle techniques
  • Altered & open tunings
  • Arranging popular songs for solo guitar
  • Celtic guitar techniques

For maximum benefit, participants should have a solid grasp of all open major & minor chords as well as one or two barre positions, and preferably some fingerpicking experience.

About Tristan:

Acclaimed as one of the UK’s leading steel-string acoustic guitarists, Tristan has toured all over Europe both as a soloist and a sought-after session musician.

His solo recordings, You Just Know, Middle Child and Handpicked From the Eighties, mix handcrafted originals with beautiful interpretations of traditional and contemporary tunes.

Workshop details and how to apply

Whilst the courses cater for varying abilities, it is recommended that participants have a good grasp of acoustic guitar basics (standard chord shapes and a few fingerstyle patterns) to gain the maximum benefit from this experience, and each course will end with an informal concert in front of a small invited audience.

The cost of each 4-day workshop is £395 which includes tuition fees, course materials, lunches, refreshments, a welcome buffet on the first night and a meal on the Saturday before the informal concert.

Spaces for each workshop are limited to 8 participants, so please book early to avoid disappointment.  Participants are expected to organise their own travel and you should aim to arrive on the Tuesday before the course begins and leave on the Sunday after the final day.  If you book early, we can arrange some reasonably priced B & B accommodation in the course venue and in other houses in La Fontenelle, but see the logistics page for alternative suggestions.
