Tristan Seume

Tristan Seume

Tristan Seume, one of the UK’s leading acoustic guitarists and composers, will be making a return visit to the beautiful French village of La Fontenelle to lead a four-day acoustic guitar workshop in August 2018.

He is a busy man: acclaimed as one of the UK’s leading acoustic guitarists, he has toured all over Europe both as a soloist and a sought-after accompanist.  His two solo albums, You Just Know and Middle Child, both available online, blend a mixture of hand-crafted originals with beautiful interpretations of traditional tunes. He performs regularly with the two-time BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winning artist Jackie Oates, and has recorded and played with many other artists on the UK folk scene.

Tristan is also a passionate teacher, whose CV includes countless contributions to some of the UK’s best-selling guitar magazines, Guitarist, Guitar Techniques, Total Guitar and Acoustic. He was also Head of Further Education at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey, and he leads workshops at the famous Ullapool Guitar Festival and the International Guitar Festival in Bath.

“Seume’s superb fingerpicking talent and ease of drifting between styles drives you to a state of listening compulsion” – Acoustic Magazine
“I believe he is one of the finest of the new acoustic generation” – Acoustic guitar legend, Gordon Giltrap

The Workshop

The workshop will explore pieces and compositional styles from around the world including folk, blues and Latin-American and it will end with an informal concert in front of an invited audience. Whilst it caters for varying abilities, it is recommended that participants have a good grasp of acoustic guitar basics (standard chord shapes and a few fingerstyle patterns) to gain the maximum benefit from this experience.

The cost of the 4-day workshop is £250 which includes tuition fees, lunches and refreshments.

Spaces are limited to 8 participants, so please book early to avoid disappointment.  Participants are expected to organise their own travel and accommodation and you should aim to arrive on Tuesday 21st August and leave on Sunday 26th August.  (See the logistics page for suggestions, though we can arrange some accommodation in La Fontenelle itself if you book early.  There is a good restaurant in the village and meals can be booked in advance).
