Travel
La Fontenelle is just off the D155 road in Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany, between Dol-de-Bretagne and Antrain. There are a number of different options for travelling to la Fontenelle. If you do come by public transport, please note that there is NO public transport to la Fontenelle itself – the only options are to hire a car or to book a taxi.
Please bear in mind that you will need transport whilst attending the choral or guitar weeks to travel from your accommodation to the various rehearsal and concert venues.
Fares are normally announced up to three months in advance, so to take advantage of best prices for tickets (and to have a chance of a sharing arrangement for car hire), it is suggested that anyone interested should identify their interest before 30 April 2024 and plan to make a firm commitment within the following month as travel details become available.
By CAR
There are many ferry options and Eurotunnel to choose from. The closest port is St Malo which is 53km from la Fontenelle.
By RAIL
The EUROSTAR service from London provides an excellent link to France TGV high speed services and the changeover can be in Paris (requiring change of station) or more simply in Lille (but at fewer times during the day). In both cases TGV services go to Rennes and on to Dol and St Malo. Although the latter two are closer to La Fontenelle, it takes longer to get there and arrangements still have to be made for the onward journey. The options are to hire a car or to book a taxi.
By AIR
Services run from UK airports to Paris and then on to Rennes. There are currently no direct flights from the UK to Rennes, and Ryanair has discontinued its service from UK airports to Dinard. Further arrangements would need to be made for the onward journey to La Fontenelle – either by hiring a car or by taxi.
